Baillie Gifford is a UK assets manager which bets on crypto. The company invested $100M into Blockchain.com and became the biggest outside shareholder in the cryptocurrency startup.

The investment is part of Blockchain.com’s $300M funding. Earlier this year the business raised another $120M for its projects. Some of the companies are Moore Strategic Ventures, hedge fund manager Kyle Bass, venture capital firms Access Industries and Lightspeed Ventures.

Baillie Gifford was founded in 1906 and is run by 46 executive managers. On 30 September 2020, the business managed $370B assets under management according to the company’s LinkedIn page.

Blockchain.com is growing fast and last month it was valued at $5.2M. Also, the company is thinking about the future and shared its plans to go public. In doing so, Blockchain.com would follow Coinbase’s steps. Last week Coinbase went public through a direct listing on the Nasdaq. 

The crypto exchange is working on building the DeFi sector. Earlier this month  Blockchain.com added Polkadot (DOT), Aave (AAVE), and Yearn Finance (YFI).
